Summary:
The Director – Business Development identifies, develops and implements a proactive business development program that includes business retention/expansion and business attraction activities that result in the creation and retention of jobs and increased tax base in Putnam County.
Primary Responsibilities:
Develop and direct an effective program of direct outreach, communications, support services and technical problem solving to support the growth of existing Putnam County businesses.
Support business recruitment activities and marketing initiatives.
Coordinate partner resources to bring business and economic development projects to fruition.
Specific Responsibilities:
Assist in the implementation of the Strategic Plan for the Chamber Economic Development programs, events, and initiatives.
Develop strong relationships with existing Chamber members and partnerships with non-Chamber members.
Implement a formal Business Retention & Expansion (BRE) Program and conduct visits to survey existing businesses & industries (75-100 business visitations annually).
Assist VP-Economic Development on attraction projects and marketing Putnam County as a "place to do business."
Maintain knowledge of state, local and other incentives and their eligibility requirements.
Utilize industry, demographic, real estate, and workforce data to respond to requests for information.
Serve as the Putnam County Chamber liaison to local workforce development service providers.
Help generate content for website, brochures, publications, social media, etc.
Attend and support Chamber events, programs, and initiatives.
Assist fellow team members in carrying out their duties whenever necessary.
Responsible for special projects as assigned.

Education and Experience Requirements:
• College degree preferred. Certifications acceptable.

Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships within the organization.

Salary/Benefits/Incentives:
