Quality Engineer - Peekskill, NY The Quality Engineer requires that the individual work in concert with Operations, Engineering, Quality Control, and other Laboratory personnel to provide leadership and technical support for continuous product quality improvement.
Responsibilities: Accountable for the implementation of quality.Maintain, Monitor and Develop SOP's and Control plans in the site's Quality Document Management initiatives on the shop floor and within the quality control lab. A strong focus is to be committed to quality incident investigations with an expectation to lead the identification and implementation of corrective actions that prevent recurrence.Monitoring, reporting, and analysis of quality KPI's, process control data, and coloristic trend data.Maintain, Monitor and Develop SOP's and Control plans in the site's Quality Document Management System (Compliant Pro).Identify gaps within the production systems and recommend process control alternatives.Routinely monitor production process data and work in tandem with other site personnel to ensure product quality is sustained and improved.Routinely interface with personnel from all site departments and may occasionally interface with other sites and corporate personnel. This role will also develop relationships with suppliers and customers as needed to address quality issues or concerns.Candidate may be required to support Supervisory staff for shift coverage as required.Education & Experience: BS in Chemical or Materials Science Engineering w/3-5 years experience working in chemical, industrial, or pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.Working knowledge of analytical chemistry techniques, color/appearance measurement, and batch operations.Leadership skills that focus on teamwork and interdepartmental relationships with the ability to facilitate cross-functional groups that resolve product/process quality issues.Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.Basic understanding of product regulatory requirements and system integrations for information management.Experience with Infinity QS, Pi OSI (PI vision), Microsoft Access, Excel, Minitab, SAP, and lab information systems is desirable.Practical working knowledge and experience with ISO/GMP/RCMS standards.Experience with SPC, DOE, Lean, and/or other statistical methods.Preferred: Experience working with unionized employees.Previous supervisory experience is a strong plus.Experience with Effect pigment applications.Salary Range: $80K-$100K
