Assists Radio System Manager to support system infrastructure ensuring that equipment is properly maintained and radio communications services are deployed effectively.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by incumbents of this job.
Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.
Maintenance of the County's radio system and equipment.
Repairs radios in house when possible.
Prepares and send radios in for warranty/maintenance repair.
Provide technical assistance and training for the radio system users.
Performs programming of internal and external customer radios, to include creation of programs.
Provides input on system upgrade planning.
Provides input for annual financial budgeting.
Schedules and oversees work of contractors working at radio sites.
Employees are required to comply with safety regulations, procedures, protocols, and wear personal protective gear if required.
Assists with system upgrade planning.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience
Four (4) years of working experience with P25 Trunking Land Mobile Radios and systems.
Must have a current and valid driver's license.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES Must have working knowledge of Motorola 700-800 MHz P25 communications systems, infrastructure, and associated technical diagnostic programs.
Ability to develop codeplugs and program radios for Motorola and Kenwood P25 trunking radios.
Support (or learn to support) Motorola MOTOTRBO radio system Performs system administration such as user additions, deletions and modifications.
Maintains active radio database.
Knowledge of Public Safety Communications and radio operations and management.
Knowledge of FCC rules and regulations.
Must have or acquire CJIS certification.

Calculate percent distributions, increase rates, and similar computations.
