Description Summary: Provides quality radiographic exams for radiologist interpretation in the diagnosis and treatment of disease(s) by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.
Other duties may be assigned.
Under the supervision of the Chief Technologist, performs radiographic examinations in the department, at the patients bedside, and in the operating room suites.
Performs optimally diagnostic radiographic and/or fluoroscopic exams on patients.
Studies performed include GI, GU, and orthopedic radiography.
Follows requesting physician order(s) to ensure exams performed are done as ordered.
Practices sound radiation protection techniques for the patient in the department as well as for ancillary personnel (during radiographic/fluoroscopic exams) at the patient bedside and/or the operating room.
Administers oral, rectal and/or IV contrast to the patient as ordered by the requesting physician/radiologist.
Enters accurate and timely patient exam/supply charges in the RIS/HIS (Meditech).
Education and/or Experience
Associate's degree (A.
A.)
or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; six months to one year related experience to be proficient.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Must possess ARRT (Registered Radiologic Technologist) and Texas
Department of State Health Services - Certified Medical Radiologic
Technologist licenses.
Other Skills and Abilities
Must be a graduate of an approved two year program in Radiologic
Technology or other teaching institution recognized by the ARRT.
