This position is responsible for maintaining and operating refrigeration systems while ensuring a safe working environment.
The role will involve logging time and materials, performing maintenance tasks, and supporting other maintenance teams.
Position Summary: The Refrigeration Maintenance Technician will be responsible for the daily operation and maintenance of refrigeration systems, communicating with management and maintenance teams, and adhering to Tyson policies and safety standards.
Responsibilities: Perform housekeeping and cleanup of refrigeration machine rooms, maintenance areas, and project areas.
Interpret and understand plans, schematics, operating, and maintenance manuals.
Assist in developing standard operating procedures, daily work schedules, and duty cycles for refrigeration and HVAC systems.
Collaborate with outside contractors for service, repair, and new contract work.
Support building maintenance and material handling equipment teams.
General maintenance tasks including building repairs and electrical troubleshooting.
Work in temperatures of 35F or below for the entire shift and lift 40-60 pounds to shoulder height repeatedly.
Log time and materials into the computerized maintenance management system.
Obtain required certifications and training within specified timelines.
Understand and comply with USDA regulations, plant sanitation standards, and procedures.
Requirements: Minimum of 6 months of continuous work experience in maintenance with a single employer within the last 12 months. Minimum 2 years of hands-on industrial experience, including refrigeration, ammonia, electrical, and HVAC. Willingness to obtain OSHA Level A Hazmat Certification and Incident Command Training within 90 days of employment. Willingness to obtain RETA (CIRO) Certified Industrial Refrigeration Operator Certification within 1 year of hire. Associate Degree in Refrigeration, Ammonia, HVAC, or Electrical is preferred.
Certifications in RETA, CARO, and FCF are a plus.
Ability to read and interpret technical documents, perform basic math, and use computer systems.
Non-Negotiable Requirements: Must have a minimum of 6 months of continuous work experience in maintenance with a single employer within the last 12 months.
Minimum 2 years of industrial experience in refrigeration, ammonia, electrical, and HVAC.
Willingness to obtain relevant certifications within specified timelines.
