About the roleThe Project Engineer is fundamental to our team and has the responsibility to lead and support engineering, systems integration, and process improvements through capital projects and operational efficiency projects within our manufacturing sites. This position will concurrently support multiple projects at one or more facilities throughout the organization. You will develop and execute projects to improve safety, quality and productivity to produce the top-quality product our customers expect from Kerry. (Sample projects could include replacing aged process lines, investigating new technology alongside R&D, renovating facility equipment, supporting maintenance reliability, quality and sustainability project objectives, etc.)
Up to 50%+ travel may be required – depending on project(s) location.
Key responsibilitiesManages process improvement and facility capital projects from a technical, financial and manpower perspective.Directly participates in the design, development and creation of scope for engineering projects (process & infrastructure) or the engineering work of the department.Oversee all phases of assigned projects from inception to final operation. Responsibilities include project planning, estimating, reporting, organizing project staff, coordinating, scheduling, installation, commissioning, and financial control.Justify, write and submit project requests to various levels of management according to company guidelines.Experience with justifying, implementing and closing capital project ranging from $5k-$3MM.Creates project estimates and timelines for initial project consideration.Identifies and proposes equipment and/or processing options to meet objectives within projects.Obtain and review contractor bids and select suppliers according to the needs of the project and company guidelines.Initiate purchase orders for vendors involved in projects and other production activities.Directs the installation, commissioning, qualification and verification for regional engineering capital projects.Manages and coordinates the activities of teams and contractors to ensure successful project execution.Creates and publishes schedules to prioritize the actions of project management.Leads project meetings for design and project reviews.Communicate clearly, both written and verbally, with contractors, plant personnel, peers and management.Ensure all engineering work aligns with global engineering standards, including sanitary design, ergonomics, employee safety and food safety requirements.Identifies operational improvements and initiates cost savings measures.Ensure all safety, quality, and regulatory standards, specifications and policies are met or exceeded.Be on the floor with the teams to make productivity improvements -analyze and evaluate project designs and ensure compliance with engineering principles and company standards for food processing; including sanitary design, operational efficiency, health, safety, and environmental sustainability.Qualifications and skillsBS Degree in Engineering.Demonstrated (5+ years) years Project / Process Engineering experience and 3+ years in Project engineering related to Food, Beverage, or Pharmaceutical & GMP knowledge is a plus.5+ years' experience in identifying & implementing Process Improvements to increase capacity / efficiency.5+ years' experience in Project Management with responsibility for projects exceeding $1MM.Experience with AutoCAD, Navisworks, Excel, MS Project, Microsoft Office Suite.Versed in project schedules, cost estimating, PFDs, P&IDs, site and elevation drawings, utilities requirements development, interpretation of P&IDs, with a good understanding of process and instrumentation control.Hands on and effective project leader with cross functional teams.Compensation DataThe typical hiring range for this role is $105,129 to $159,134 annually and is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, location, etc. In addition to your pay, Kerry offers benefits such as a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and retirement contribution (all benefits and incentives are subject to eligibility requirements).
