Research Assistant/Associate In Nanosheet Transistors And Circuits (Fixed Term)

A position exists for a Research Assistant/Associate in the Department of Engineering, to work on Nanosheet Transistors and Circuits.
The post holder will be located in West Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, UK. The role holder will be required to have practical experience in nanosheet transistor design and fabrication as well as a good understanding of typical architectures and operation modes.
They should have expertise in thin film gate dielectrics, work-function optimisation for electrodes and channel materials, and proven expertise in detailed thin-film transistor characterisation and analysis. They should have hands-on experience in solution phase nanosheet production (preferably via electrochemical exfoliation), and expertise in thin film deposition and patterning techniques. In addition, they should have experience in digital and analogue circuit designs and analysis relevant to sensor readout circuits, an understanding of device layout strategies and design rules, and performance requirements for transistors and circuits onto flexible and rigid substrates. It is desirable that the candidates are able to measure and analyse circuit outputs, have sound knowledge in statistical analysis of circuit output, and have experience with device and circuit failure analysis.
The role holder will work with Professor Tawfique Hasan at the NanoEngineering Group at the Cambridge Graphene Centre, and will closely collaborate with teams from Strasbourg University (Professor Paolo Samori), Trinity College Dublin (Professor Jonathan Coleman), University of Antwerp (Professor Sara Bals), University of Mon (Professor David Beljonne), and mSemicon Teoranta (Ciarán Ó Bréartúin).
Applicants must have (or be close to obtaining) a PhD in Chemistry, Materials Science, Engineering, Physics, or relevant technical discipline. To perform the role, the applicants will additionally need to have excellent presentational and technical writing skills, as well as scientific illustration and project management skills. The applicant will be expected to participate in dissemination, including public and social media engagements. They must be able to work independently or in teams within and outside the university, have excellent organization, communication, and time-management skills. In particular, their ability to independently think and formulate solutions to experimental problems will be an important selection criteria. They will also be expected to work closely with other undergraduate and graduate students in the research group.
Appointment at Research Associate level is dependent on having a PhD. Those who have submitted but not yet received their PhD will be appointed at Research Assistant level, which will be amended to Research Associate once the PhD has been awarded.
Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 36 months in the first instance.
