Research Assistant- Il- Pharmacy Practice

Summary

The Research Assistant is a grant-funded position and will be assisting in performing a wide variety of standard research procedures in the animal and analytical laboratory with supervision and following established research procedures and protocols.
Duties will include participation in experimental work (rodents) and analytical work (e.g.
HPLC/LCMS).
This position reports to a Principle Investigator/Professor.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Work is performed under direct supervision by Principle Investigator or senior member of the labTrack results, compiles data using appropriate formats and graphs and analyzes data with training and supervisionEnter data and review for accuracyMaintains an accurate laboratory notebookAdheres to laboratory safety proceduresAssists in standard maintenance of the laboratory
Obtains quotes and performs ordering and receiving duties for lab suppliesTrains studentsContributes to abstract submissions, poster preparation, and/or manuscript publications
Performs other duties as assigned Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor's degree from a four-year College or university in a biological or other related science.
0-2 years of research experience required.
Previous independent work with rodents is strongly preferred.

Computer Skills

Computer proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Ability to use graphical and statistical programs (GraphPAD, PRISM) and operate laboratory instruments.

Language Skills

Intermediate skills:Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization.

Reasoning Ability

Intermediate skills:Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Ability to analyze data and outcomes.

Mathematical Ability

Intermediate skills:Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interests, commissions and proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
