The Role
The Senior Accountant - Financial Reporting will join AspenTech as a key member of the technical accounting and SEC reporting team, focusing on lease accounting (ASC 842), Intercompany tracking, and ESG inventory management, in addition to financial reporting into the parent company, Emerson Electric.
Primary responsibilities include month-end accounting close, documentation of technical accounting assessments, preparation of financial information for inclusion in the Company's periodic SEC filings, development and implementation of policies, procedures and controls, ESG inventory tracking, intercompany management and implementation of new systems/projects across the organization.
The position requires a high energy, results oriented person with strong technical accounting skills responsible for high quality financial reporting in a multi-task environment.
Success involves working with diverse and cross-functional teams, domestically and internationally and assisting in delivering on strategic decisions and improvements within the finance organization to effectively help prepare the Company for its continued future growth, both organically and through acquisitions.
Your Impact Perform research on new/emerging technical accounting areas.
Assist in preparation of lease accounting assessments for new and modified leases in accordance with ASC 842.
Manage lease accounting process globally using Lease Accelerator.
Prepare accounting assessment memos for certain technical accounting areas, such as leases, internally developed software, and long-lived assets.
Assist in the preparation and review of the Company's periodic SEC filings including 10-Qs, 10-Ks, 8-Ks, Proxy filings, etc.
Assist with intercompany transactions and reconciliation as needed.
Ensure an accurate and timely month-end close process, including preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations.
Coordinate the compilation of all financial data necessary to prepare financial statements required for external reporting by the parent company, Emerson Electric.
Collaborate with cross functional teams to prepare and review certain government reporting required by the parent company, Emerson Electric.
Create and update policies and process documents as needed.
Perform internal controls over financial reporting and support internal and external audit and quarterly reviews.
Perform inventory management in accordance with environmental, sustainability and governance laws.
Assists with other accounting and reporting tasks or special projects as needed.
What You'll Need Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance or a related field from an accredited university.
3 + years of accounting experience in a publicly traded organization.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel formulas, pivot tables, charts and advanced data modeling skills.
Process oriented with strong attention to detail.
Strong communication skills with ability to facilitate open dialogue with stakeholders.
Proven history of balancing multiple priorities with the ability to adapt to changing needs of business while continuing to meet deadlines.
Experience with Accounting ERP systems (Oracle, HFM, Epicor) CPA preferred.
