We're looking for a Senior Commercial Counsel to join Snap Inc.!
As a member of the Legal team, you'll play a key role in Snap's commercial transactions and advise teams throughout the company on legal issues spanning the breadth of Snap's products and services.
What you'll do:
Provide tactical and strategic advice to Snap business and product leaders related to content acquisition, music licensing, brand partnerships, and talent and creator initiatives .
Lead and manage all legal aspects of deals for Snap's content initiatives, including structuring, drafting, and negotiating agreements for Snap's content platform.
Lead and manage all aspects of deals for Snap's Sounds and other music initiatives, including structuring, drafting, and negotiating agreements with music publishers, record labels, and performance organizations.
Develop and apply policies and practices for legal compliance with laws and regulations governing the use and distribution of publisher-produced and user-generated content, including those related to privacy, copyright, trademark, defamation, right-of-publicity law, advertising, marketing, and contest and sweepstakes, along with international regulatory requirements.
Coordinate with colleagues from every part of the company as part of cross-functional teams addressing the above.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Strong knowledge and understanding of the digital content ecosystem, including the distribution of user generated content, licensed audio-visual content, and music via digital platforms, and creator ecosystem.
Substantial experience structuring, drafting, negotiating, and advising clients on transactions with multinational media companies, studios, production companies, guilds and unions, sports leagues, news publishers, record labels, music publishers, fashion and beauty brands, and marketing and talent agencies.
Meaningful experience with First Amendment principles, media regulatory compliance, advertising and marketing regulatory compliance, and platform regulatory compliance.
Experience structuring and drafting user terms and policies.
Experience counseling senior executives, cross-functional teams (including business, privacy, product, design, engineering, sales, marketing, finance, tax, compliance, litigation, and policy teams), and external partners with a team first attitude and insatiable appetite for learning.
Outstanding analytical, communication (both verbal and written), organizational, negotiation, and drafting skills.
Excellent legal and business judgment, strategic thinking, pragmatic and action-oriented approach to problem solving, and the ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously and autonomously.
Ability to accommodate timelines in a fast-paced environment.
Strong team player, with a team first attitude.
Ability to grasp technical concepts quickly and communicate effectively with design, product, and engineering teams Ability to use Google Workspaces and other collaborative productivity software.
Hard working and inspired about Snapchat products and culture.
Minimum Qualifications: JD degree from an accredited institution 8+ years of relevant experience working for a media company, entertainment studio, online platform, or transactional law firm/practice group specializing in complex music, media, and/or digital commercial transactions or related experience Preferred Qualifications: 5+ years of in-house experience

Compensation
In the United States, work locations are assigned a pay zone which determines the salary range for the position.
The successful candidate's starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions.
The starting pay may be negotiable within the salary range for the position.These pay zones may be modified in the future.
Zone A (CA, WA, NYC):
The base salary range for this position is $244,000-$366,000 annually.
Zone B:
The base salary range for this position is $232,000-$348,000 annually.
Zone C:
The base salary range for this position is $208,000-$311,000 annually.
This position is eligible for equity in the form of RSUs.
