About the Role
This role will contribute to building out Figure's fund products ("the Funds") and provide counsel on the structuring, jurisdictional analysis and documentation for domestic and internationally based funds.
In this role, you will effectively communicate and build relationships cross-functionally, including partnering with Sales, Finance, Product, Engineering and Compliance, to tackle new legal questions and reach creative solutions.
Legal team plays a central role in Figure Markets' hyper growth and the realization of our mission of leveraging blockchain to transform financial services.
What you'll do Help structure and launch new Funds and implement existing Funds,, including providing legal and regulatory guidance and documentation, and production of subscription and related agreements applicable to US and international based funds.
Lead and proactively identify risk-weighted advice to the business, including the identification, escalation and mitigation of legal risks associated with the Funds and its customer's investment activities Take ownership for the development and implementation of appropriate control processes, precedents and checklists for the ongoing review of investments in digital assets and unlisted assets.
Provide strategic legal advice for the Funds' existing investments and related products, including crypto assets, and provide legal and regulatory advice with respect to marketing of such vehicles and investment advisory services; Negotiate and document contractual arrangements within a transaction, including bespoke contracts for first of their kind products and services with limited precedent, as well as review and negotiate vendor contracts Own the relationship with external due diligence providers to ensure all material risks are addressed.
Review and provide legal and regulatory advice on new regulatory developments, including being up to date with legal and regulatory trends in blockchain and digital assets to better inform legal advice given to the company, and participating in industry groups; Help to ensure the Funds are structured and operating in an optimal manner to ensure scale and opportunities are exploited.
What we look for A prudent commercial perspective in our markets and products, along with the dedication to defend our positions Comfortable with ambiguity and quick pivots.
7-10 prior years of related law firm and/or in-house legal experience working in fintech, digital assets, or high-growth tech companies and crypto companies Deep experience with fund formation, fund administration, and registered investment advisers, exchanges, market making, financial derivatives, cryptocurrency, and open source software Understanding of the compliance and regulatory requirements around crypto assets Knowledgeable in a wide array of international laws, regulations, and frameworks relevant to financial services, internet technology, and crypto, including banking regulations, money transmission laws, securities regulations, GDPR, BSA, CFPB, CFTC, FTC (including UDAAP), and more.
Ability to make sound legal judgments, applying analytical rigor, prudent risk assessment, and a mix of creativity and pragmatism as necessary, to discern when flexibility in interpretation is warranted.
Interest in digital assets, blockchain technology, and the innovations brought about by decentralized applications, web3, and DeFi.

For CO, NY, CA, and WA residents, the salary range is $212,520 - 265,650with up to a 25% Bonus and Equity.
Actual compensation may vary based on individual candidate experience and location.
