We have an opening for either a Principal Ground Systems Engineer or Senior Principal Ground Systems Engineer to join our talented, diverse team.
We are seeking a team member who wants to solve interesting, complex problems to help protect our nation.
We are a trusted mission payload and ground system provider with extensive experience providing end-to-end mission solutions from concept through operations and support.
The team you will support is located at our Space Park campus in Redondo Beach, CA.
What you'll get to do?
As a Ground Systems Engineer on this team, you will support a very fast-moving team to help design, model and develop the ground system for the Space Development Agency's (SDA) low earth orbit constellation for SDA's Tranche 1 constellation.
The constellation is a mesh network of 126 optically-interconnected SVs that will provide a resilient, low-latency, high-volume data transport communications system that will be launched starting in September 2024.
SDA's vision is to deliver a minimum viable product on time, every two years to the warfighter by employing spiral development methods.
The Tranche One programs are part of an ambitious space architecture to bring next-generation communications capabilities to the warfighter around the globe.
You will join an integrated, agile team to expand the Tranche One Ground System portfolio on an aggressive schedule.

Core Responsibilities:
Install, integrate, and configure Command & Telemetry (C&T) software (SW) in each environment.
Build and install on Integration & Test (I&T) rack
Integrate and validate each new C&T DB drop
Verify new functionality of C&T SW that the Ground team receives from subcontractor
Develop a set of scripts to be used by C&T SW
Support milestone demonstrations
Create documentation for the build process and C&T DB process
Work with subcontractor and internal teams to customize C&T SW as needed for future programs
This requisition may be filled at a higher grade based on qualifications listed below.
Basic Qualifications for Principal Ground Systems Engineer:
Bachelor's in STEM with 5 years of relevant experience; Master's in STEM with 3 years of relevant experience; PhD in STEM
Active DoD Secret clearance
Experience handling command and telemetry within Ground systems
Familiarity with scripting languages, such as Python or Bash
Working knowledge of systems engineering principles and processes
Demonstrated experience quickly learning new concepts and approaches
Basic Qualifications for Senior Ground Systems Engineer:
Bachelor's in STEM with 9 years of relevant experience; Master's in STEM with 7 years of relevant experience; PhD in STEM with 4 years of relevant experience
Active DoD Secret clearance
Experience handling command and telemetry within Ground systems
Familiarity with scripting languages, such as Python or Bash
Working knowledge of systems engineering principles and processes
Demonstrated experience quickly learning new concepts and approaches
Preferred Qualifications:
Working knowledge of InControl or a similar C&T tool
Experience with program or lower level boards
Experience with the Atlassian products JIRA and Confluence
Experience supporting milestone events (e.g.
preliminary design reviews (PDRs) and critical design reviews (CDRs), functional configuration audits (FCAs), physical configuration audits (PCAs), etc.)
Salary Range: $104,600 - $157,000
Salary Range 2: $129,700 - $194,500
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.
Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
