Senior Project Manager Job Summary
This position plays the lead role in planning, executing, monitoring, controlling, and closing projects.
The Senior Project Manager is accountable for the entire project scope, project team, resources and doing all that is necessary to ensure the success of each project.
They will perform this role utilizing critical thinking skills obtained through many years of project management.
Essential Responsibilities Develops project work plan and assigns tasks and responsibilities for all project related activities.
This includes all design, development, testing, training, implementation, and on-going support activities for IT, Business Operations, and any third-parties or vendors necessary for successful project implementation.
Apply project methodology and enforce standards. Communicate process changes, enhancements, project status and modifications - verbally or through written documentation - to management, peers, staff, vendors and other associates so that issues and solutions are understood and addressed Analyze project requirements to determine tasks and resource needs and work to fulfill these needs Work with PMO team to seek opportunities to continuously improve PMO best practices, communication and deliverables Ability to plan, organize, and manage multiple projects Determine the appropriate sequence of tasks and activities for a work package Prioritize which issues deserve immediate attention and have significant impact and allocating the needed resources Contact other associates, departments, or suppliers to coordinate planning, installation, troubleshooting, problem resolution, and deployment. Decide when a new work item or change request is outside of the approved project scope Decide when a particular task is behind schedule or inadequately resourced Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong knowledge of insurance business or a similar industry Strong knowledge project management techniques, including waterfall and agile processes Experience managing enterprise-wide projects and programs inclusive of both IT and business needs Knowledge of PROSCI or other change management methodology preferred Knowledge of PPM Pro, PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and MS Project Strong knowledge of the interaction and interdependencies of hardware.
