The anticipated salary range for this role is between $175,000.00 and $227,000.00. The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire. The role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive award. In addition to cash compensation, SMBC offers a competitive portfolio of benefits to its employees.
Role Description

JRIA is looking for a senior IT Leader in Corporate Banking Technology area. In this role, the Director will be primarily responsible as a program manager who will coordinate specific projects and communication efforts. This leader will need to transition quickly and effortlessly between programs. The Corporate Banking Technology team is beginning an agile transformation and this leader will need to embrace and support this journey with their leadership. Communication responsibilities include reporting on project milestones to senior executives, presentations to regulators and internal senior management committees – both local and for Head Office in Tokyo, to ensure on-time deliverables and prompt escalation of issues. Additionally, the Director will communicate with Tokyo Head Office and other regional offices as a key liaison role for IT Governance, IT Strategies, Global Collaboration, and important projects. We are looking for an experienced practitioner to not only lead programs but to guide and coach along the way. As this team is a liaison of Head Office systems, bilingual (English/Japanese) will be required for this role.
Role Objectives

Supervise employees/expats in their project management, production support and communication with related teams in US, EMEA and ASIA regions toward improved efficiency with internal processes that adhere to legal guidelines.
Provide appropriate analysis and suggestions on how to improve JRIA activities (projects, BAUs).
Work with Tech Leads and their team to develop long-term strategic initiatives and to improve delivery qualities.
Build and develop the project team to ensure maximum performance, providing purpose, direction, and motivation.
Lead high priority initiatives, projects and report project outcomes and/or risks to the management team as needed—escalating issues as necessary based on project work plans.
Qualifications:

10+ years project management experience.
Hands-on experience with developing Core Banking Systems, Treasury Systems and platforms for maximum usability.
Strong architecture definition and design.
Strong capabilities with database and information systems software.
Strong knowledge of Project Management, SDLC processes and Banking Industry.
Proven ability with financial and budgetary processes.
Prior industry experience and up-to-date knowledge of relevant trends.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Language: English and Japanese fluent.
