The Department of Dermatology is seeking a highly motivated candidate to fill a full-time Senior Research Lab Tech position in Dr. Nirmal's laboratory at the Brigham and Women's Hospital and Harvard Medical School. The Nirmal Lab combines experimental and computational approaches to build spatial atlases of the tumor microenvironment and uncover the molecular underpinnings of oncogenesis and drug resistance in melanoma.
The Senior Research Lab Tech will be involved in a project that explores the spatial reconfiguration of the tumor microenvironment during the early phases of melanoma development. This study will utilize cutting-edge technologies such as spatial transcriptomics, highly multiplexed imaging, and high-resolution 3D imaging.
The successful candidate will be a team player capable of handling multiple tasks and adaptable to a fast-paced research environment. They will receive training in state-of-the-art spatial methodologies and other omics technologies. The candidate will also benefit from working in a vibrant collaborative environment with multiple groups across Harvard Medical School, Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard, and Dana Farber Cancer Institute.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The Senior Research Lab Tech will be responsible for conducting experiments and performing data analysis to advance the research progress in the lab. As part of this work, they will be responsible for the following:
Perform immunofluorescence staining of paraffin-embedded tissue and other standard laboratory assays.Maintain laboratory stock solutions/reagents, inventory, and order and catalog all necessary reagents and supplies.Conduct data analysis using Python/R.Analyze single-cell, transcriptomics, and genomics data.Experience with image-based single-cell analysis is desirable but not mandatory, and training can be provided.Provide regular project status updates and meet expected deliverable dates.Collaborate with a team of scientists to foster a culture of scientific excellence and collaboration. The Senior Research Lab Tech should be able to work independently, but also be open and receptive to suggestions and feedback from the team/project leader. At the Nirmal Lab, we believe that diversity, equity, and inclusion are crucial elements that are integral to achieving the highest standards of scientific excellence. Along with our unwavering commitment to these values, we recognize that helping you achieve your career goals is just as important as fostering scientific excellence in the lab. Therefore, we prioritize promoting independent thinking, offering strong mentorship, and providing vast networking opportunities.
