Position Summary: The role of the Senior Staff Accountant revolves around orchestrating and executing various accounting tasks crucial to completing the Financial Close Process. Key responsibilities include updating standard costing, analyzing freight costs, reconciling inventory accounts, preparing month-end journal entries, maintaining the general ledger, conducting account reconciliations, scrutinizing general ledger month-end balances analytically, and assisting in compiling data for internal and external audit requests.
Essential Functions/Primary Responsibilities: Perform general cost accounting duties and other relevant tasks for the organization. Update standard cost values in the system for newly added items. Prepare and revise Annual Labor and Overhead rate calculations. Manage the monthly freight reconciliation process, complete freight-related processing, and generate related journal entries. Prepare warehouse accruals and analyze overall warehouse costs analytically. Compile monthly inventory analyses and prepare journal entries for inventory using multiple data source systems. Calculate inventory obsolescence reserves for raw materials and packaging inventory categorized as at risk or designated for disposal. Establish and maintain auto-recurring entries in SAP. Prepare balance sheet reconciliations for relevant areas and others as required. Assist in finalizing and summarizing year-end leases analysis. Conduct subsequent disbursement testing annually and analyze results for necessary adjustments. Assist in preparing for, executing, and reporting physical inventory. Conduct timely and accurate SOX controls. Compile SOX control testing support throughout the year. Assist in year-end closing procedures and associated schedules. Assist in gathering necessary documentation for internal and external auditors. Perform any other duties assigned as needed. Qualification Requirements: Preferred Bachelor's degree in accounting. Minimum 3-5 years of relevant experience required. Preferred experience with SAP S4/Hanna. Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook). Familiarity with AS400 (Prism/JDE). Understanding of and ability to adhere to GAAP. Knowledge of cost and financial accounting. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent communication skills.
