We are seeking a Senior Staff Accountant.
Key responsibilities include preparing accounting entries in various ledgers, such as the general ledger, construction-in-process ledger, and fixed asset ledger.
Additionally, this position handles state and federal grant accounting, creates ad-hoc financial reports, coordinates month-end closing processes, and reviews monthly financial statements and analytical analyses.
Moreover, the role plays a part in suggesting enhancements to accounting policies and procedures while ensuring adherence to accounting standards.

Responsibilities
Maintain uniform and accurate account structure for input and output, regularly review financial reports, and update them when necessary.
Coordinate month-end closing procedures, collaborating with all organizational departments and ensuring accurate subledger postings.
Aid in preparing monthly financial statements, analyze account balances, and generate specific financial and statistical reports for management.
Additionally, create ad-hoc financial reports as needed.
Manage daily maintenance of fixed asset records, including additions, disposals, adjustments, depreciation, and reporting.
Review construction-in-process projects, record accounting entries upon completion, and ensure compliance with GAAP.
Prepare journal entries and reconcile activities with the general ledger.
Thoroughly review monthly balance sheet accounts, trace them back to original documents and support schedules, and reconcile bank accounts and selected balance sheet accounts.
Education
Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field is required.
An additional four (4) years of relevant experience may substitute for a bachelor's degree.
Two (2) years of experience in private or public industry general and or cost accounting is required.
Experience with construction contracts and projects, and fixed asset capitalization is a plus.
