The ideal candidate will support will generally be provided Monday through Friday, between ******** . Additional on-call support may be required after hours.
The Senior Systems Engineer position at MacDill AFB, FL supports the Global Solutions Management-Operations II (GSM-O II), Joint Communications Support Element (JCSE). The JCSE team provides en-route, early entry, scalable C4 support to Regional Combatant Commands, Special Operations Command and other agencies. In this role, you will be responsible for new capability requirements and design, system assessments, and providing hands-on engineering support. Key elements of this position include: conducting analysis and assessments on new emerging technologies; developing and recommending functional design solutions to meet stakeholder requirements; providing Tier III support to the Joint Network Operations Center (JNOC); developing, engineering, and recommending hardware and software solutions; and conducting cybersecurity mitigations on design solutions to comply with Risk Management Framework (RMF) cybersecurity requirements.
Responsibilities Include: Review new capabilities and assess current capabilities for areas of improvement in support of the JCSE end-to-end enterprise infrastructure. Assist the government with identifying any derived design objectives, technical specifications, performance requirements, and interoperability specifications to ensure the system design will meet stakeholder end-to-end requirements. Provide hands-on experience improving and maintaining the enterprise infrastructure, as well as support execution of new system increments. Assess systems for limitations, gaps, shortfalls, or end of support products that could impact critical C2 mission support. Identify enhanced mission support and emerging technologies that will make the enterprise operate more efficiently. Assist the government with development, updates, and review of program/project Systems Engineering Plan (SEP), Information Support Plan (ISP), and Technology Readiness Assessment (TRA) on new or emerging technologies or capabilities. Develop, review, and update briefings, papers, or spreadsheets in support of this task. Plan and coordinate internal and external working groups with JCSE stakeholders to support the engineering process. Attend modernization program reviews and document comments, needs, and gaps from the JCSE stakeholders. Support the customer with management and technical synchronization of cost, schedule, and performance associated with the technical solutions being proposed or procured to meet stakeholder requirements. Ensure the system design adheres to industry standards, DOD standards, DOD policies, DOD instructions, DOD directives, cybersecurity policies, and best commercial practices. Minimum Qualifications: Active, in-scope US Government issued TS/SCI clearance Position requires 8-12 years of relevant experience An current CCNP certification is required Position also requires a current DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification U.S. Citizenship Desired Qualifications: Experience with analysis of operational, functional, and performance requirements and the system design, test, and implementation of initial capabilities. Insight into JCSE coverage and capacity requirements for the end-to-end enterprise infrastructure (ex. SATCOM Gateway Baseband, transportable SATCOM terminals, terrestrial transport, NIPR data/voice/video, SIPR data/voice/video, MILSATCOM Bandwidth, COMSATCOM Bandwidth, deployable baseband). Experience in the development, updates, and review of program/project Systems Engineering Plan (SEP), Information Support Plan (ISP), and Technology Readiness Assessment (TRA) on new or emerging technologies or capabilities. Prior experience in the planning and coordination of internal and external working groups. Experience developing, updating, and maintaining engineering documents. Experience providing risk analysis and recommendations for mitigating identified cybersecurity risks or threats to networks. Education: Bachelor's degree and 8-12 years of prior relevant experience, or Master's degree with 6-10 years of relevant experience.
