Essex is a biomedical informatics and health information technology-focused consultancy founded in 2009 and headquartered in Rockville, MD. The Essex team comprises experts with extensive experience in strategically developing and managing complex health and biomedical information programs for clients in the Federal Government, research academia, and private sectors. This role works as part of the technical testing team and will be focused on testing enterprise and informatics software systems to support cancer trials and research. Responsibilities As an individual contributor, prioritize and complete testing tasks on assigned projects. Develop test scenarios and procedures to ensure enterprise and informatics software systems are scalable, reliable, and performant. Write automated tests and integrate them with the CI/CD pipeline. Work with the engineering team to troubleshoot and resolve issues. Participate in SCRUM Sprint planning, standup, review, and retrospective meetings. Work in a collaborative cross-functional team environment to move features (JIRA tasks) across all tiers in a CI/CD Agile SCRUM environment. Contribute articles to the technical knowledge base to support knowledge sharing across teams. Be a proactive part of the software test engineering team, looking to make improvements to our engineering practice. Shadow senior team members during interviews. Mentor junior members of the team. Qualifications Possession of a Bachelor or Graduate degree in a technical field such as Computer Science from an accredited college or university 2-5 years of software testing experience in one more programming languages. Strong communication skills (oral and written). Experience coding in Python, JavaScript, Ruby, or comparable programming languages. Experience testing software systems that run in the AWS cloud environment. Experience working in a Agile development environment such as SCRUM or Kanban. Experience using Git, GitHub, and GitHub Actions. Experience testing and troubleshooting issues for enterprise and informatics software systems. Experience with behavior-driven development testing using framework such as Cucumber and Behave. Experience with performance and load testing using tools like K6, LoadRunner, JMeter, and Artillery. Working knowledge in section 508 accessibility testing. ISTQB Foundation and/or Agile testing certification is a plus. AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner and/or AWS Certified Developer - Associate is a plus. Why work at Emmes?
