What you'll be doing:The Federal Business Development Manager is responsible for identifying, qualifying, and pursuing business opportunities within the Department of Defense (DoD) and/or Defense Health Agency (DHA). This role requires a deep understanding of federal procurement processes, strong relationship-building skills, and the ability to develop and execute strategic business development plans.Identify and qualify new business opportunities within the DoD and/or DHA through market research, networking, and analysis of government spending trends.Develop and maintain relationships with key decision-makers, influencers, and partners within the DoD/DHA and relevant industry sectors.Create and execute strategic business development plans to pursue identified opportunities, including capture strategies and win themes.Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., technical, pricing, contracts) to develop compelling proposals and presentations.Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and government-industry days to enhance visibility and gather market intelligence.Monitor and analyze competitor activities, market trends, and policy changes that may impact business opportunities.Maintain a thorough understanding of the company's capabilities, solutions, and differentiators to effectively position them against customer needs and competitor offerings.Manage and track opportunity pipelines, providing regular status updates and forecasts to leadership.Develop and maintain relationships with potential teaming partners and subcontractors to enhance competitive positioning.Contribute to the development of annual business plans and growth strategies for the DoD/DHA sector.What you need:Communication Skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with a knack for making complex topics simple.Sales Acumen: A natural sales instinct with a passion for technology and innovation.Self-Motivated: A self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, commission-based environment.Tech-Savvy: Comfortable learning digital tools, CRM software, working with ChatGPT/AI tools and virtual communication platforms.Required Experience:Must be a U.S. Citizen.Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Public Administration, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in federal business development, with a focus on DoD and/or DHA contracts.Demonstrated track record of successfully identifying, pursuing, and winning federal contracts.In-depth knowledge of federal procurement processes, including FAR, DFARS, and relevant acquisition regulations.Strong understanding of DoD and/or DHA organizational structures, missions, and priorities.Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with clients, partners, and internal stakeholders.Proficiency in CRM systems, Microsoft Office suite, and other relevant business development tools.Active security clearance (Secret or higher) preferred.Preferred Experience:Experience with health IT, cybersecurity, or other relevant technology domains within the DoD/DHA context.Familiarity with SBIR/STTR programs and other innovation-focused procurement vehicles.Knowledge of emerging technologies and their applications in defense and healthcare settings.Experience with capture management and proposal development processes.Understanding of budget cycles and appropriations processes for DoD and DHA programs. $150,000 - $175,000 a year
