Compensation Overview The annual base salary range provided for this position is a nationwide market range and represents a broad range of salaries for this role across the country. The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment. As part of our comprehensive compensation and benefits program, employees are also eligible for performance-based cash incentive awards.
Salary Range $123,200.00 - $203,300.00

What Is the Opportunity? Do you have a passion for helping to empower leaders, employees and organizations to achieve their goals through creative communication strategies, techniques and storytelling? In this role, you will serve as chief communications advisor to technology and innovation senior leadership. As a collaborative member of the Travelers Corporate Communications team, you will manage and lead others, including external agency resources in the execution of internal and external communication strategies, plans and messages that help to achieve business outcomes. The role also focuses on amplifying our mission, purpose, strategy and culture to engage employees and make Travelers a destination for talent. Reports to the Head of Technology & Operations and Innovation Communications. As a Communications Senior Director, you will serve as a communications advisor to the head of a business or function in the execution of communications plans and strategies. You will work closely with the business, function and/or initiative leaders to develop and deliver complex communications plans. This includes drafting written materials, managing projects and related logistics, delivering final materials to stakeholders and overseeing execution.
What Will You Do? Lead the development, implementation and execution of complex internal integrated strategic business and function communications plans that directly advance business objectives and priorities while reinforcing Travelers culture and character.Provide strategic internal communications counsel to senior leaders.Cultivate strong partnerships with business and function leaders, and works effectively with colleagues across the company.Counsels senior leadership on communications approach and employee engagement.Ensure that strategic business key messages are integrated into internal communications.Demonstrate a thorough understanding of business strategies and build them into communications approaches and materials.Utilize a deep level of communications expertise to ensure implementation of internal communications aligned with business objectives.Provide leadership to development and implementation of internal communications across all internal audiences.Provide input into the development of internal communications best practices and ensure practices are implemented across unit.Create, coordinate, and manage appropriate internal vehicles for maximum effectiveness and efficiency.Ensure that enterprise approval processes, templates, and brand guidelines are followed in the development of internal communications materials. May recommend guidelines to leaders.Measure effectiveness of overall internal communications through qualitative and quantitative methods. Review recommended changes and ensure implementation as appropriate.Share business and communications subject matter expertise with other team members; mentors/trains others on the development of communications and communications strategies.Manage team members and develop their expertise as business partners, trusted advisors and strategic communicators.Ensure that communications efforts are legally compliant, and cost-effective.Identify risks, issues, and challenges and recommend solutions; work closely with leaders to craft key messages for internal audiences at all levels.Perform other duties as assigned. What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have? Typically has 8+ years of experience in corporate communications or a related field.Thorough knowledge of all contemporary communications techniques.Thorough understanding of business strategies.Advanced interpersonal skills, including ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.Advanced presentation skills.Advanced project management skills, with ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, within tight timeframes. Ability to coach others to deliver projects.Advanced writing and editing skills.Advanced problem-solving and analytic skills and ability to think critically.Advanced ability to work individually and as a member of a team (on team assignments). Ability to build productive working relationships across functional areas.Advanced ability to interact with and influence senior leaders.Strong business acumen with advanced ability to think and operate strategically.Ability to identify emerging issues in the organization, and external issues that could affect the company's reputation.Advanced Leadership Skills, including ability to coach and develop employees, leverage differences, manage in a participative manner, manage change effectively, inspire others and promote a vision, understand and navigate organization, and align resources to accomplish key objectives. What is a Must Have? Bachelor's degree in English, journalism, communications or minimum of 7 years of related communications experience.Minimum of 2 years of management experience.
