Our Values: Lead with Compassion, Aspire Collectively, Evolve Continuously, Innovate with Impact, Scale Sustainably Position Summary The Senior Research Associate or Scientist I, Analytics position is responsible for conducting sample analysis, analytical method development and optimization to support bioprocess development and production of bio-based materials at different stages from R&D to scaleup and commercialization. This cross-functional role is a great opportunity to collaborate with other R&D groups such as strain engineering, enzyme development, downstream processing, and tech transfer to the company's external partners. Responsibilities Perform basic and complex laboratory experiments, follow protocols and procedures, and generate reproducible and accurate analytical data.Carry on and optimize sample preparation for HPLC and LCMS analysis, using automated and manual techniques.Perform LCMS and HPLC analysis, process data, and report the results.Lead and contribute to the development and validation of QQQ LCMS methods for accurate quantitative analysis of small molecules.Operate, maintain and troubleshoot analytical instruments, setup methods, analyze data, summarize and report results. Present results and ideas in group and project meetings.Assist with training and support of junior and new team members.Maintain chemicals and consumables inventories.Work in accordance with health and safety guidelines and company policies. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications PhD, MS, or BS degree in Analytical Chemistry, Chemistry, Biochemistry or related discipline with focus on analytical chemistry.PhD with 1+ year, Masters degree with 3+ years or Bachelors degree with 5+ years of experience in the biotechnology industry. Fast paced startup experience is a plus.Hands-on experience with QQQ LCMS method development and validation for small molecules analysis. Extensive knowledge of Agilent LCMS and HPLC instruments and software.Experience with GCMS is a plus.Knowledge of principles and fundamentals of analytical separations in reversed phase, HILIC, and ion exchange chromatography and a variety of detection techniquesExperience with microbial bioprocesses and metabolomics is highly desirableSolid foundation in chemistry and sample preparation techniquesAbility to operate and maintain laboratory equipment Strong time management skills, multitasking, ability to thrive in fast pace R&D environment under tight timelines, flexibility to changes in priorities and work plans while maintaining efficiencyMust be able to move up to 25 pounds and move around the lab facility between multiple locations.
