Summary:: Material Handlers play a crucial role in the efficient operation of our manufacturing facility. These positions are responsible for the accurate and timely movement, storage, and management of raw materials, in-process goods, and finished products within the production area. The ideal candidates will have experience in material handling within a manufacturing environment, excellent organizational skills, and a commitment to safety and quality.
Key Responsibilities: Material Handling and Storage: Receive, inspect, and store incoming materials according to company standards. Ensure accurate labeling and documentation of materials. Move materials to and from storage areas, production lines, and loading docks using appropriate equipment (e.g., forklifts, pallet jacks). Organize and maintain inventory in an orderly and accessible manner. Production Support: Supply production lines with necessary materials in a timely manner to prevent production delays. Remove finished goods and scrap materials from production lines and transport them to designated areas. Assist in the setup and changeover of production lines by delivering necessary materials and equipment. Inventory Management: Conduct regular inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies. Track material usage and report low stock levels to the supervisor. Assist in maintaining accurate inventory records in the company's inventory management system. Quality and Safety: Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment. Report any safety hazards or equipment malfunctions to the supervisor immediately. Participate in safety training sessions and adhere to company policies. Inspect materials for quality and report any defects or issues to the quality control department. General Duties: Keep work areas clean and organized. Assist in general maintenance and housekeeping tasks as required. Collaborate with team members and other departments to ensure smooth operations. Qualifications: Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Experience: Previous experience in material handling within a manufacturing or warehouse environment preferred. Experience in the panel and furniture component industry is a plus. Skills and Abilities: Proficiency in operating forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment. Basic computer skills for inventory management and data entry. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to lift and move heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) safely. Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team. Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures. Certifications: Forklift certification preferred or willingness to obtain certification upon employment. Working Conditions: Physical work environment requiring standing, walking, and lifting for extended periods. Exposure to manufacturing noise, dust, and machinery.
