SafetyCall International (SCI)/Pet Poison Helpline (PPH) is growing and looking for a Staff Accountant to join our team! This individual is responsible for performing various duties including accounts receivable, accounts payable, reconciliation, general ledger and duties and accounting projects as assigned. The Staff Accountant is a full-time, Monday-Friday position that will work during normal business hours. This position may occasionally be required to work outside normal business hours as needed. The position is eligible for a hybrid remote/in office work option in which they'll be required to work in the home office in Bloomington, MN 1-2 times/week, or more often as needed.
Responsibilities: Manage vendor invoice analysis, tracking and files. Assist with the processing and recording of accounts payable transactions, ensuring vendor invoices are accurate, approved and that all invoices and staff reimbursements are paid accurately and in a timely fashion in accordance with SCI policies and procedures. Process payments through Quickbooks and mail checks while in office on a weekly basis. Assist with billing data for long distance telephone calls. Download and distribute monthly company credit card reports to employees. Review, code to the general ledger, and attach all associated receipts. Complete month end close tasks related to PPH. Assist in managing journal entries into the general ledger including inputting data and reconciliation. Assist with reviewing payroll reports and preparing journal entries for input into QuickBooks. Assist with entering and tracking consultant time into QuickBooks. Complete quarterly and bi-annually sales and use tax filings. Complete filing and archiving of accounting documents as assigned. Proactively work to create and maintain organization with all accounting related activities. Develop and implement accounting procedures and efficiencies by analyzing current procedures. Answer accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data. Perform job duties responsibly and ethically per SCI and PPH policies and procedures. Protect the organization's value by keeping information confidential. Participate in all required training and continuing education sessions. Maintain a positive, cooperative, and respectful relationship with all coworkers. Maintain regular and punctual attendance. Completes other duties as assigned by supervisor, senior leadership, and SCI partners. Qualifications: Associate or Bachelor's degree in Accounting OR 3+ years work experience as a Staff Accountant, Accounts Payable Specialist, GL Accountant or equivalent position. Experience working in QuickBooks or a similar accounting software with willingness and capability to work with and learn multiple software programs. Proven experience and knowledge with keyboarding, PCs, Microsoft Office and other software and hardware programs. Verbal and written communication that is clear, concise, accurate and professional on a regular basis, including during stressful or high-pressure situations and interactions. Strong attention to detail, numbers, and spelling with the ability to accurately enter data. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written and oral form. Ability to attend to multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining quality and accuracy. Ability to gather, analyze, and synthesize complex or diverse information. Ability to exhibit sound and accurate judgment and make timely and accurate decisions. Ability to work efficiently and analytically under pressure. Ability to prioritize and plan work activities in order to be efficient, complete all assigned projects in a timely manner and meet deadlines. Maintain confidentiality of clients' products, procedures, and case detail as well as SCI's operating procedures. Customer service focused attitude and behavior. Can quickly adapt to changes in work flow, policies and procedures. Remote Requirements: Employees must have a space that allows them to work without interruptions or distractions, and must not have any other responsibilities during the time they are working such as caring for animals or dependents. Pay & Benefits: Pay Range: $28.85-$33.65/hr.
