Position Summary: The Staff Accountant is responsible for maintaining and controlling the General Ledger accounts and business transactions of the organization, applying the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) which includes analytical work and review of financial records.
Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities: Performs cash management operations involving payment receipt, processing, deposits, and other duties to ensure that all bank transactions are processed accurately and timely into the accounting system.Manages credit card applications, charges, and employee expenses.Ensures activity for assigned accounts/areas are recorded in conformity with Company policy and U.S. GAAP.Performs general accounts analysis and reconciliations, including bank statements, accruals, and prepaid expenses.Assists in the development and/or enhancement of policies and procedures that will improve the overall operation and effectiveness of the accounting function and organization.Assists in the maintenance of key financial systems including Microsoft Dynamics Great Plans and Management Reporter.Answers accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data.Assists in preparation for financial and bank audits.Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining professional networks, and participating in professional organizations.Collaborates with various functional departments as appropriate.Develops and maintains working knowledge of current HME products and services offered by the company.Maintains patient confidentiality and functions within the guidelines of HIPAA.Completes assigned compliance training and other educational programs as required.Maintains compliance with AdaptHealth's Compliance Program and applicable company policies, procedures, and patient protocols.Performs other related duties as assigned.Competency, Skills and Abilities: Strong mathematical, analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.Strong organizational skills.Strong understanding of U.S. tax regulations.Excellent verbal and written communication.Ability to handle multiple tasks within a deadline-oriented and fast-paced environment.Ability to work independently and productively in a dynamic environment, as well as being a solutions-oriented team player.Proficient computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Excel.Solid ability to learn new technologies and possess the technical aptitude required to understand flow of data through systems as well as system interaction.Education and Experience Requirements: Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, or finance.At least two (2) years of experience with basic accounting processes, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, and month-end closing.Physical Demands and Work Environment: Work environment will be stressful at times, as overall office activities and work levels fluctuate.Must be able to bend, stoop, stretch, stand, and sit for extended periods of time.Subject to long periods of sitting and exposure to computer screen.Ability to perform repetitive motions of wrists, hands, and/or fingers due to extensive computer use.Must be able to lift 30 pounds as needed.May be exposed to angry or irate customers or patients.Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and written with internal and external customers with the ability to demonstrate empathy, compassion, courtesy, and respect for privacy.May be required to travel as needed.Benefits: MedicalVisionPaid Time Off401kAdaptHealth is an equal opportunity employer and does not unlawfully discriminate against employees or applicants for employment on the basis of an individual's race, color, religion, creed, sex, national origin, age, disability, marital status, veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity, genetic information, or any other status protected by applicable law.
