Summary
GENERAL SUMMARY:
Performs computed tomography (CT) procedures under the supervision of a qualified physician. Uses CT technology and techniques to assist in the diagnosis of patient medical problems for patients throughout the age continuum.
PRINCIPAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. *Commits to the mission, vision, beliefs and consistently demonstrates our core values.
2. *Performs all types of CT studies to include diagnostic and interventional procedures; practices radiation safety for patients, staff, and self.
3. *Uses sterile technique as required.
4. *Optimally demonstrates patient anatomy through proper positioning and selection of technical factors.
5. *Performs venipuncture.
6. *Competently operates all CT equipment and support systems to include EPIC, PACS and teleradiography.
7. *Performs and evaluates images for technical quality.
8. Reviews patient history and provide accurate documentation of studies.
9. *Properly cares for and imaging patients of all ages; maintains patient confidentiality.
10. *Coordinates exams within the department and with other departments to provide expedient and complete care; communicates with medical staff, coworkers, patients, families, and other hospital staff to assure quality patient care.
11. *Handles telephone calls for scheduling, coordination, or questions with courtesy and accuracy.
12. *Participates in the department's quality improvement plan as required.
13. *Cleans, disinfects and maintains equipment as necessary; notifies coordinator of equipment problems and calls appropriate service vendors as needed.
14. *Keeps work area properly supplied.
15. Assists with departmental orientation and student clinical education as directed.
16. *Accesses and administers drugs and biologicals that are pertinent to essential job functions in accordance with standard operating procedures.
17. Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise.
18. Participates in meetings, committees and department projects as assigned.
19. Performs other related duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
1. Maintains clinical competency as required for the unit including but not limited to age-specific competencies relative to patient's growth and developmental needs, annual skill competency verification and mandatory education and competencies.
2. Knowledge of CT positioning, use of technical factors and radiation safety practices.
3. Knowledge of CT non-invasive and invasive procedures.
4. Knowledge of Joint Commission, federal and state regulations related to radiography.
5. Knowledge of computer hardware and software applications relevant to work functions.
6. Skill in operating CT equipment, PACS, and other related systems.
7. Ability to react appropriately and perform work effectively under stressful and emergent situations.
8. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
9. Ability to prioritize work demands and work with minimal supervision.
10. Ability to interact effectively with patients, family, staff, and physicians.
11. Ability to maintain confidentiality relevant to sensitive information.
