The Stage Manager plays a vital role in the daily operations of the University of Georgia Performing Arts Center, including our signature professional performing arts series, UGA Presents, and a robust schedule of performances and events presented by the University of Georgia's Hugh Hodgson School of Music.
The Stage Manager is responsible for performance logistics for all events at Hodgson Concert Hall and Ramsey Concert Hall at the University of Georgia Performing Arts Center (PAC), both of which are used primarily for live music performances and events. The position also serves as stage manager for UGA Presents events at offsite venues, including the University of Georgia Fine Arts Theatre, in support of theatre and dance performances. Presentations at off-site venues occur only a few times each season. The majority of the events managed by this position are live music performances at the PAC.
Responsibilities: Performs stage management duties for events and productions. Coordinates with guest artists, hall tenants, faculty, UGA staff, students, and PAC staff. Independently maintains and operates sound and lighting systems in partnership with Production Manager. Works directly with performing artists and/or company managers to start performances on time and keep productions flowing. Manages and maintains all performance-related equipment and supplies. Works with Production Manager to advance events occurring in performance spaces, including preliminary discussions with artists on contractual requirements, crew, lighting, sound, orchestra equipment, staging, transportation, and scheduling. Supervises, trains, and schedules temporary or part-time stage crew personnel, including hourly and student workers. Works closely with UGA academic and non-academic units to coordinate staging expectations of their productions and events in PAC facilities. Performs other production-related tasks as necessary or as assigned by the Production Manager. Works non-traditional hours, including evenings and weekends. Reports to the Production Manager. Manages one full-time Assistant Stage Manager and as many as three dozen part-time student employees. Maintains and manages a purchasing card for the production staff. This position requires a working knowledge of stagecraft, sound, and lighting; working knowledge of music concert production; familiarity with various types of performing artists, including students and faculty; ability to remain calm and pleasant in stressful situations; knowledge of IBM-compatible computers. Candidates must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, work at heights, stand, kneel, and stoop.

Minimum Qualifications: Requires technical knowledge in the field acquired through an apprenticeship, a 2-year degree, or professional certificate. Please contact your Human Resources office for an evaluation of education/experience in lieu of the required minimum qualifications.
Preferred Qualifications: 1-2 Years experience working in a professional concert hall or theatrical venue supporting touring performing artists and student ensembles.
