Student Assistant – Art/Sculpture

Position Summary
Two (2) temporary hourly-intermittent student assistant positions available in Art department.

Start Date
Position available on or after September 3, 2024 and ending on or before May 30, 2025. Possibility of reappointment based on budget, department needs, and job performance.

Job Description/Duties
This position works with sculpture faculty and staff in the Art Department.
Duties include but are not limited to:
Assist with monitoring the studios to ensure safe and proper use of tools, equipment and material.
Assist with cleaning and organizing tools and equipment.
Assist with preparing material and computer-based instructions for classes, and other projects as assigned by the department Equipment Technician.
Assist with design, preparation, and inspection of digital files.
Assist with operation of CNC and 3D printing technology as part of the Sculpture Fab Lab.
Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrates knowledge of tools and equipment related to sculpture such as clay, wood, and/or metal.
Demonstrates experience with at least one 2D or 3D design software that may include, but is not limited to, Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator, 3D printing slicer software, CAD/CAM software.
Demonstrates general knowledge of tool use, object making, or specific equipment used in a makerspace/fab lab environment such as 3D printers or laser cutters.
Non-Art majors are encouraged to apply.

Required Qualifications:
Undergraduate students must be registered/enrolled in a minimum of six (6) Fall/Spring units.
Post-baccalaureate students in a graduate program must be registered in a minimum of four (4) Fall/Spring units.

Salary Range
$16.00 per hour.
