The Tax Manager position requires an exceptional tax accountant who can manage and work on a broad base of clients, someone with the ability to provide keen technical oversight and supervision of staff work product, who is motivated to sustain and grow a highly successful practice of high-wealth clients.
In addition, a Tax Manager is responsible not only for review and management of staff but also tax and accounting preparation for complex projects and tax returns.

Professional Experience required: Minimum of 5 years Public Accounting experience Prior management experience - minimum of prior "Senior Staff Accountant" title Education and Certification requirements: Bachelor's (minimum) or Master's (preferred) in Accounting or Tax or related degree program CPA License preferred Specific job requirements for the Manager position include: Develop strong, lasting relationships with clients and staff through ongoing communication and exceptional service and leadership Preparation and staff review of financial statements - from all varieties of source data Preparation and staff review of all levels of Federal and State tax returns from various forms of source data - including complex reporting such as: Like Kind Exchanges Special Allocations Publicly Traded Partnership investments (and Section 751 sale adjustments) Ownership changes Inside/Outside Basis calculation and tracking Foreign Partners and Foreign Tax Issues Multi-State Reporting Passive/Nonpassive Issues Strong knowledge of tax reporting rules and regulations Depreciation - methods and rules Deductibility of expenses - what qualifies, what documentation is required Tax filing due dates / extension filing requirements Calculation and recommendations regarding safe harbor & ETP requirements Preparation and review of payroll tax returns, including 941, 940, SUTA, FUTA, W2, 1099 Preparation and review of sales and state franchise tax returns Tax planning for individual and corporate clients Represent clients with IRS, state, or other audits Correspondence with IRS for resolution of tax issues Ability to research and obtain resolution for unfamiliar tax matters In addition, a Tax Manager will assist with the following management responsibilities: Training, supervision, mentoring of staff, helping staff reach the potential of their abilities Review of staff work product Prioritization of projects Staff assignments / reassignments as needed based on workload Goal setting Qualities of a Tax Manager include: Highly analytical, high technical ability High attention to detail Problem solver Responsible Ability to efficiently review the work of other staff, keen eye for seeing what is "not there" Able to work well with others, earning respect of other staff Team player - willing to do whatever is necessary Multi-tasking in a dynamic environment Deadline oriented Self-starter Effective time management Work efficiently with minimal supervision/training Willingness to work significant overtime hours during tax season, with the potential for increased hours during the off-season to complete work projects as needed Career-driven personality Professional but personable attitude and demeanor, earning trust and confidence of clients
