Description
Teen Leaders are responsible for teen program/club development, supervision, recruitment/retention and implementation of the Y's teen programs and fostering relationships with middle/high schools students at their YMCA's/program.
Under the supervision of the Regional Teen Director your role will include facilitating small group activities, modeling & reinforcing our character traits- responsibility, caring, honesty, and respect throughout the program as well as provide a safe environment for all the young people at your YMCA.
Key Responsibilities ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES/PRINCIPLE ACTIVITIES: Help to develop and implement quality programs to meet the needs of middle and high school students, ensuring that YMCA policies, rules, regulations and procedures are being enforced and respected.
Work with the Teen Director, to set goals and review the standards in the implementation of activities that foster creativity and awareness including various cultural, educational, recreational, environmental and social issues.
Work with the management team of YMCA to coordinate service delivery and ensure a youth/teen "friendly and safe" environment.
Facilitate, plan and engage teens in daily clubs based on teen interest and following our Safe for You, Safe for Us guidelines (COVID-19 Safety Protocols) Maintain and monitor enrollment and participation in Y programs.
Ensure that teens participate in all required training, special events, and community collaborations.
Support the Regional Teen Program Director with the recruitment of teens in community.
Attend YMCA, community, collaborative and other meetings as requested by the Regional Teen Program Director.
Maintain and care for all program areas and supplies.
Meet all reporting and tracking requirements for collaborative programs.
Communicate program information, problems and concerns as they occur.
Abide by established YMCA policies, procedures, regulations and guidelines; ask when in doubt.
Remain current in required and voluntary training in order to promote Youth Development, Healthy Living and Social Responsibility.
Job performance will be evaluated every 30 days by supervisor to ensure quality program is being delivered.
Adhere to the Association Teen Development Agenda Perform duties as requested by supervisor.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise Education/Experience: 21+ years old Youth Programing Experience Required.
Teen programming specific experience preferred.
CPR, First Aid & other program specific certifications required upon or after hire.
