Position Summary:
Candidate must demonstrate in-depth knowledge of dies, blueprints, and equipment that is used in a die maintenance shop. A machinist and tool and die maker operates and sets up many different mechanically controlled and computer-controlled machine tools used to make precision tools, metal parts, and instruments. Knowledge of CAD (computer-aided design) to produce parts and products. The candidate must be able to build or maintain existing tools to acceptable quality standards. Working as a Machinist or a Tool and Die Maker will see candidate honing their technical and mental skills each day. Every task will bring challenges and problems to solve, giving candidate a chance to develop and adapt skill set. This is a job that demands trying new things – until a solution that works is successful. Must follow all safety practices and procedures set forth by the company, complete working knowledge of plant operations specializing in the Tool and Die Maintenance Department, possess excellent math skills. Candidate must be able to utilize computer programs to assist in troubleshooting problems.
Experience Requirement:
Complete working knowledge of plant operations specializing in the Tool and Die Maintenance Department.
Education Requirement: Vocational Training and/or equivalent experience. Journey's card preferred. Physical Demands/working conditions: Primary portion of work is in factory, ventilated, and heated facility. Prolonged, extensive, or considerable standing/walking Position requires stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, bending, handling, and/or use of tactile information. Must be able to express ideas or exchange thoughts by means of talking, hearing, reading and/or writing. Requires motor coordination, manual dexterity, finger dexterity, eye-hand-foot coordination and may include transporting objects and lifting up to 80 pounds. Exposure to various types of cleaning supplies, chemicals, and other agents utilized in factory.
