Frontline Applicant Tracking - Bethel Park School DistrictUnion Maintenance Specialist Skilled in plumbing and basic carpentry. Performs basic repairs and preventative maintenance; performs basic electrical and plumbing repairs and maintenance; installs component parts on classroom and office equipment and facility components to provide a safe and functional environment.
Performs basic rough and finish carpentry work including repairs of structures such as partitions, walls, doors and hardware, fences, etc.
Assists custodial and maintenance workers in the maintenance of their respective facilities as required.
Performs all assigned work in a safe manner. This includes using all safety equipment when required and maintaining all tools in a safe operating condition.
Assists in all aspects of a project such as design, layout, material requirements, cost and labor estimates. Accurately orders and accounts for material and labor in relation to assignments.
Complies with District policy, local, state, and federal laws and procedures for the use, storage, and disposal of waste, cleaners, chemicals, and all other products and materials used in performing duties.
Assists in snow removal during winter months.
Ensures the building is safe and secure. Maintains equipment and work space.
Position Purpose
Under the direct supervision of the Assistant Superintendent of Facilities and Operations, to maintain school buildings and building and grounds in orderly, neat, safe and operable condition.
Additional Duties

Equipment
Uses hand tools of trade and related power equipment, including saws, drills, routers, planers, sanders, jointers, and stationary power equipment.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of fundamental tools, materials, practices, maintenance, methods and procedures in the carpentry, plumbing, and electrical trades.Knowledge of building code conformance standards for carpentry, plumbing, electricity, electrical installation, and repair.Knowledge of occupational safety and health laws and regulations.Ability to follow oral or written work orders from supervisor, and to coordinate work with others.Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagrammatic form.Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure.Ability to describe orally or in writing maintenance or repair problems as needed.Ability to troubleshoot, problem solve and resolve electrical or electricity issues.Ability to report work orally or in writing to supervisor as required.Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, staff and others contacted in the course of work.Safety Requirements Follows all applicable safety rules, procedures and regulations governing the proper use of tools and power equipment used.Wears appropriate safety gear.Travel Requirements
Frequent travel between schools, or between schools and central offices, may be required.

Qualifications Profile Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful performance would be qualifying. Typical qualifications would be equivalent to:
