The Victim Advocate provides victims of crime or crisis with information concerning their rights and provides emotional and social support in an effort to reduce the victim's physical and emotional suffering.
This is a part-time position with a hiring rate of $33.26 per hour.
JOB SUMMARY Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Assesses victim needs and provides intervention, comfort, and/or referral to supportive agencies and for other servicesProvides victim follow-up contact or initiates outreach contactActs as a liaison between victim and investigators or patrol officersAdvises victim of the court processEducates victims on their mandated rightsProvides victim with case statusAssists with education of police personnel regarding victim/witness services QUALIFICATIONS Associate degree in human services, social work, or a directly related field or two (2) years related college level course work preferred but not required.Bilingual Spanish speaking skills highly desirablePrevious experience working in a law enforcement agency highly desirableMinimum 21 years of ageValid Colorado driver's license with good driving recordHigh level of discretion and ability to keep information confidential Self-motivated individual and ability to work under minimal supervision Be able to respond to a variety of different locationsAbility to be available for on-call service with a response time of 1 hour or less KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Ability to interact in a courteous manner with a wide variety of people.Ability to treat others with a high level of fairness, respect, and dignity APPLICATION DEADLINE Open Until Filled
