What You Will DoWe are looking for a Hardscape Intern who will work on "hands on" projects and participate with field art direction of Character Facades, Rockwork and Hardscape assignments! This requires an entry-level understanding of three-dimensional creative intent, problem solving and their application through the design, production, & field art direction process. Review drawings and specifications
Help in performing mock ups for new concrete finishes
Assist with development of the desired concept in collaboration with design team leader
Help to integrate specific design elements and creative problem solving in regards to materials usage into overall design packages
Provide scope details for design elements in preparation for reviews of all show design documents
Participate in matching existing concrete colors and finishes to be called out on future projects
Engage in the field art directing of character pavement and transfer of data to the "hardscape documentation" website
Help create plugs and molds for stamp manufacturing
Required Qualifications & SkillsWorking knowledge of dimensional design and construction or set design and production
Successful team experiences with specific goals or objective
Excellent problem-solving skills
Knowledge of available team resources and how to use apply them efficiently to contribute to the team's creative objectives
Valid Driver's License Required
Preferred QualificationsExperience working in carpentry, concrete, sculpting and mold making
Experience reading blue prints and/or CAD files pertaining to dimensional details and layout
Functional proficiency with basic concrete and masonry hand and carpentry tools
Ability to check forms and reinforcement to specification and tolerances
Working knowledge with gypsum plaster, steel and concrete
Fabrication of architectural or dimensional models
Participation with large scale construction projects
Prior Disney experience and knowledge.
EducationUndergraduate students in their Junior year or higher, or graduated within the past 6 months earning a degree in theater, fine arts, environmental design, construction management, or related field
Be enrolled in an accredited college/university taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program OR must have graduated from a college/university within 6 months at time of application posting OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship.
Preferred EducationGraduate level education in theater, fine arts, environmental design, construction management or related field
