Job Description
Insight Global's client is hiring a workers compensation attorney on the defense side is to assist insurance companies or self-insured employers in mitigating their exposure and defending workers compensation claims.
Typical job functions include:
Appearing at and setting depositions.
Delegating tasks to paralegals.
Communicating with insurance adjusters.
Litigating cases before a workers compensation judge or referee.
Representing the interests of the employer or insurer at hearings, trials, depositions, oral arguments, mediation, arbitration, and other proceedings.
Communicating with claims representatives.
Monitoring loss run reports for trends and increases, and alerting management to concerns.
Assisting with the investigation of accidents and problem areas.
Managing workers compensation costs to reduce liability.
Compiling and submitting reports required by company management.
Coordinating and attending claims reviews.
Negotiating settlements on behalf of the insurance company.
Performing other job tasks as assigned.

Skills and Requirements
Proven litigation and strong trial experience.
Up-to-date knowledge of workers compensation laws.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Strong research and analytical skills.
Ability to handle large caseloads and manage multiple priority deadlines.
Excellent negotiation skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and legal research platforms such as Lexis and Westlaw.
Understanding of medical, scientific, construction, products, engineering, and similar issues inherent in workers compensation cases.
Familiarity with claims handling guidelines for each business unit.
Ability to budget costs and calculate exposure.
Knowledge of billing procedures.
Education/Experience:
Law Degree required.
Minimum of 1 year of experience.
Bilingual in English and Spanish null
