Established in 1935 as a leading commercial glass and aluminum contractor, Hershocks has an opening for an individual in its Commercial Contract Division for a Commercial Estimator. This person would be providing competitive bids for commercial construction projects as it relates to glass and glazing frame systems.
Essential Duties: Review specifications, drawings and other documents to determine scope of work.Responsible for preparing cost material and labor estimates, to be added to the Bid ReportResponsible for reviewing with project managers the scope of work and specific materials and vendors used to formulate project estimate.Responsible for meeting multiple project deadlines as required.Work with General Contractors and/or owners to develop preconstruction budgeting.Visit jobsites as required to field measure, check job conditions in order to accurately prepare estimates and manage jobs.Responsible for consulting with clients, vendors, personnel in other departments, and/or construction foremen to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve any cost issues.Responsible for the following when Department receives a contract:Review contracts for scope of work and project contract amount.Provide schedule of value breakdowns for billing purpose.Communicate with project managers regarding scope of work and door/framing systems.Assist Project Managers with order changes to executed contract.Communicate with various manufacturers regarding door/framing systems.Perform other duties as assigned.Required Personal Attributes Strong work ethics.Excellent organizational, time and stress management skills to complete the required tasks.Self-Starter.Detail Oriented.Professional attitude.Reliable.Excellent problem solving skills.Ability to perform multiple tasks.Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.Ability to learn quickly in a fast paced environment.Self-confidence.Strong people skills.Position Requirements High school diploma or GED; two year technical school and 3 years experience; or 5 years equal experience.Must have valid drivers license.Ability to read architectural drawings.General understanding of contract process from start to finish.Basic construction knowledge of window/door systems, flashing, and waterproofing.Working knowledge of computer systems: Microsoft 365, Adobe PDF, and ComputerEase preferredSystem drawings (In-House System)Complete support of and willing adherence to Hershocks' mission, vision and core values.
