DescriptionThe Shen lab at University of Maryland Pharmaceutical Sciences is developing and applying state-of-the-art computational tools to advance a variety of topics, including covalent drug design; structure-function studies and drug design for kinases, GTPases (RAS and Rac), ion channels, as well as opioid receptors. We have openings for a postdoctoral fellow and a graduate student.
Requirements: A PhD or BS degree in chemistry, physics, or related disciplineInterest in developing continuous constant pH molecular dynamics (CpHMD) algorithms and/or machine learning techniques for applications to structure-function studies and computer-aided drug designExperience in MD simulations and computer programming required for the postdoctoral fellow and desired for the graduate studentPromotion to the research associate and then research assistant professor level possible for the postdoctoral fellowWe Offer: Postdoc stipend (starting $58k-$70k/yr with annual increase)Graduate student stipend (starting about $32k/yr)State of the art facility and computing clustersJob location is Rockville (suburb of Washington DC) or Baltimore inner harborDC/Baltimore metropolitan area offers vibrant cultural life, outdoor activities, and job opportunities.
